Metropolis II: art, toys, or both?
Now that Thanksgiving is over, many households are the creation of a rail electric toys around a Christmas tree. Imagine if you had to put up such a thing!
The installation Metropolis II by Chris Burden, a superb range of 1,200 Matchbox or Hot Wheels cars whiz around and around built up. I have a video of it after the jump, but I do not see toy trains.
I see all the cars that are put to the type of vehicles with many bizarre twists. You'll notice two ramps in the middle, that the cars brings up slowly like a roller coaster.
I think a lot of calculation had to be done to make this track. You will notice that it's obviously no accident.
If you want to see Metropolis II, it is currently on display at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art I suspect it art could be considered, and I see his message: that modern life is nothing more than a series of fast-moving vehicles stuck in an endless loop of traffic. Adults can enjoy, but I think children would simply understand that this is a great toy.
