Hanako Showa: The robot dental patients

Recently, I had examined my mouth by a dentist, and I was lucky to get one with years of experience. I always wondered, patients are to start for the dentist.

Fortunately the dentist more training places available, a fear grin developed with the robot 5 feet tall Japanese Showa University and from the robot manufacturer Tmsuk. This robot called Showa Hanako has very realistic movements of his eyes, head and voice. It even has a place for saliva, so his mouth like a real patient can be drawn.

Hanako can behave in a realistic manner, as saying: “Ouch!” It hurts! “And turning his head. I can only assume that the dentist must apply some false beginners Novocaine. Then the dentist can ask the patient, are you okay?” I assume that the robot respond in the affirmative if the right things are done.

To arise, vomiting Hanako reaction when the dentist touches his palate, and they told me to touch her breasts robot is not a big step. I really do not know what to do if you accidentally brush against it … anyway, I think he taught future dentists, sensitive to female patients.

Apparently more than four students from the University of Showa have conducted studies of Hanako. The developers plan to make many Hanakos and sell to dental schools.
